    Description

An all original Chevrolet radiator cap mascot depicting a winged Viking with a lion’s headdress. William Schnell of Detroit designed and patented this iconic radiator cap mascot in 1929.
This Viking themed mascot was used on Chevrolet automobiles manufactured in 1929, 1930 and in 1931. The radiator cap was threaded in the solo year 1929 but this was changed to a bayonet style fitting for the years 1930 and 1931. The bayonet fitting on this cap (see photos) confirms it as an original 1930 or 1931 Chevrolet mascot.
This Viking radiator cap is complete and in very good condition. It is solid and displays very well. It is not cracked, broken or repaired. The original ‘rotate and lift’ hinged bayonet-style base operates smoothly. Overall, just a beautiful example of an iconic Art Deco Chevy cap that would make a great addition to your restoration project or mascot collection.
Please look at all of the photos closely to determine condition for yourself and ask any questions before bidding or BIN purchase. I am happy to answer them and to provide additional photos on request. The photos are a significant part of the description of condition.
