So-called dollar, HK# 314, R4,struck in aluminum, 1903-1904, referred to as the PAX dollar. One side shows Pax, facing forward, in front of the sun with rays. At the top around a raised border is "COMMEMORATING THE LOUISANA PURCHASE 1903". At the bottom is "ST. LOUIS WORLD'S FAIR 1903-4". The other side shows the sun with rays, with a sailing ship in front of it, traveling to the left. At the top around the raised border on this side is "COMMEMORATING THE DISCOVERY OF AMERICA 1492". At the bottom is "CHICAGO'S WORLD'S FAIR 1892-3".The fields on both sides are bright, with the devices and the raised border area having a matte finish. The bright areas show light contact marks from handling.
