    Description

Lombardo Mint operates out of Canada.  It was established in the 1950's under different name and in 1960 changed to its present moniker.  It was at the height of its medallic creating powers in the 1960's and 1970's which is why I believe this medal was struck during the Vietnam War-era because of its Obverse motifs and the included historical figures (JFK, MLK and RFK and perhaps Pope Paul VI).
Beautifully executed, approx. 39mm, struck in Aluminum.
You may have heard that the Chinese may possibly been the first to have discovered and used Aluminum as far back as the THIRD CENTURY A.D.  This based upon aluminum artifacts discovered in the 3rd century tomb of  General Zhou-Chu. Pretty much the entire world accepts that aluminum was not successfully extracted as metal until the latter half of the 19th century this discovery was ceased upon by some as evidence that Earth had been visited by Aliens from outer space.
Sadly, this exciting theory appears not to be true as subsequent study of the fragments has led scientists to conclude that the aluminum discovered in the tomb was left by an earlier party that had likely robbed the tomb.
Likewise, this medal shows no evidence of having been created by aliens.  I'm satisfied it issued from the Lombardo Mint in Canada, probably in the first years of the decade of the 1970's.
